Cannot install Basecamp! Help!

Hello everyone,

I was given a Garmin etrex Legend H for Christmas yesterday and I am having a lot of trouble downloading and installing the BaseCamp software. I can download the BaseCamp installation file, but when I try to install it I get an error message informing me that I cannot install BaseCamp on a computer with anything less than Windows XP Service Pack 3. The problem is, I'm actually running Windows XP Service Pack 3. I'm very frustrated by this, it's like the Garmin software for some reason thinks I'm running an earlier version of Windows than I am, and won't install BaseCamp.

It doesn't make sense at all. If I'm running XP SP3 then I should be able to install Basecamp, right?

I apologize for the trouble. Yes, this should work. I am not sure what is going on.

Please try to contact Garmin Customer support (link in my signature). They should be better equipped to help with installation issues.

I recall another thread that Basecamp requires the .NET framework (at least 3.5?) but does not force the installation itself if it's not there and also does not tell you that it's missing. Is that possibly the problem here or something similar?

Yes, installing the .NET 3.5 framework is one thing that might have gone awry. The installer *should* test for this, but apparently it doesn't always quite work out.
