BaseCamp Feature Suggestion Regarding Tracks

There is much to like about the new BaseCamp 3.2.2 beta. I especially like the Create Track button under the Properties for a Route -- a great feature addition!

The feature suggestion. For a Track, when right clicking to open the context menu, how about offering a context menu option to copy the Track to XML (in the clipboard). This could allow the user to then paste the XML code into a text editor for further editing. I am trying to describe a capability similar to the one that exists in Google Earth where the user can right click-copy an item from the Places panel and paste the resulting KML code into a text editor. If you believe the feature would confuse many less-advanced users, it could be enabled through a Preferences setting.

Thanks for listening.

To be perfectly honest, I don't think we will add this feature at this time. It's not that it doesn't have some merit, but there is too much else that we feel would benefit more users.

I am aware this is not as convenient as you'd like(and I am sure you already know this), but you can export the selected track as GPX and then edit it.

If it turns out this is indeed a feature a lot of people are looking for, we will definitely think about adding it.
  • Thanks, Falagar, for the feedback. I understand the feature that I suggested would likely be of interest only to a more advanced and that there are other feature additions which will be useful to many more users. Thanks for listening!
