Track Join Procedure

I'm trying to figure out if I'm missing something regarding track join. When I'm cleaning up a long gpx track, it's sometimes necessary to cut out a section (maybe caused by going down the wrong trail for awhile) and then join the before and after sections. In MapSource, both the track cut (divide) and track join tools are in the track edit toolbar. In BaseCamp, I can cut the track with a track edit tool but to rejoin the before & after tracks, I have to go to Edit -> Advanced -> Join Selected Tracks. Is there some reason both tools wouldn't be available in the same toolbar?

To adcockJ: I solve your problem to cut out a part of a track as follows: I double click to the track, which opens the property pane. In this pane I mark the points to be deleted with the mouse and shift key down. The part which is marked I see on the track in brown color. Then I press the del key which deletes the marked points and joins the ends automaticly.
