If I'm planning a route in Base Camp, what is the difference between using a route and a track?

A route connects a series of waypoints. Either on road (magenta line follows road) or off road (straight lines). A track is a series of points that you either create by sampling your position as you walk or drive, or as you draw on a map.

Next time, be a little more descriptive in your subject line.

You may want to see if you can find a website that has a gpx. file (track) which you can download for the path you want to take. I use them for hiking. I also create routes from waypoints again for hiking because I use the waypoints as a basis for creating a manual log should I need to resort to a manual compass. But that's just me.
Think of a Route as planning for somewhere you haven't been. A track is where you or someone else (ie downloaded track) has already travelled.
