Basecamp annoyances - labels and popups

Why all of the unnecessary labels in Basecamp? I zoom in on any state rec area and there are 6-10 identical labels hovering around it, all saying the same thing. I have tried reducing the number of labels, etc., with no luck.

Also, having a description pop up wherever I move the pointer is extremely annoying. This should be an option.

Have you tried the 4.3 beta? While still not perfect it's a big improvement.

No. A quick read of the relevant thread shows there's lots to consider (and that 4.3 beta's long list of changes/updates/tweaks from 4.2 reflects partly the time from 4.2 release and partly the need to put it out as a beta).

For various reasons, I won't try the beta just yet, but hope to do so soon.

Background info: first GPS was a GPS III+ (I waited until this model appeared, as I particularly wanted the facility to upload map tiles) which still works, used with MapSource then BaseCamp. Three years ago bought an Oregon 450t. Obviously, that background has influenced my habits in using current software and hardware: for example there's always a (pointless) worry at the back of my mind about hitting a limit on numbers/sizes of waypoints, routes, map detail, tracks, etc. Practically, with the Oregon, the user issue can become dealing appropriately with vast quantities of information! Old dogs need time and encouragement to learn new tricks.

    I have to TOTALLY agree.
I'm working with routes right now and the dog gone balloons are horribly frustrating? Who thought of THIS ?
Man! There desperately needs to be a way to turn them OFF.

  • 4.3 will be better if the beta is anything to go by ...

I'm working with 4.2 and 4.3 and it does seem a bit better. Now if they would just let us opt to turn them off when we need to. <sigh>
  • Garmin, please hire another software programmer then put both your programmers to work stopping the annoying balloons.
