How to reduce the amount of index points with basecamp. 60csx

Hey guys. I'm having some trouble uploading tracks to my 60 csx. It seems the max amount of points a track can have is 500 or it gets truncated.
This in itself is a pain in the ass.

When i have the log loaded in base camp it has for example 2100 points. Is it possible to reduce the amount of points down to 500 easily without splitting it into several tracks?

Basecamp will let me select mutiple points by using the 'shift' key however it wont let me select multiple points using the 'control' key.

If this isnt possible and i split it into several tracks before uploading the the gps, then can i have the gps read 1 track after another automatically? It will be a massive pain in the ass if i have to keep stopping and changing the tracks (trail bike riding?

Cheers

Try EDIT:Filter Selected Track That will allow you to control the number of points in several different ways.

There 3rd party programs to do it also which will more closely preserve the fidelity of any reduced track. Try GPSBabel.

Another option is to turn the tracks into a transparent overlay map.

Correct. In the 60CSx/76Csx models saved tracks have a 500 point limit and also have all timestamp information removed.

You can upload track data to the units "Active Log" which contains up to 10,000 points but be aware that it can be truncated and/or overwritten if you have track logging enabled. However they will appear on the map page.
To upload to the active log rename you tracks in BaseCamp/MapSource to ACTIVELOG000, ACTIVELOG001 and so on.

I never "save" tracks in the unit but use the "Log to SD card" feature and import the resulting GPX file(s) into MapSource/BaseCamp. This gets around the 10,000 point limit and give almost unlimited logging with a large card. However the GPX file(s) on a card do not show up on the map nor can you use them for the trackback function.
