How are you loading the map from the card into BaseCamp? And do you have other map products already visible in BaseCamp?

    I apologize for the trouble.

I did find your error report in our issue tracking database. You say there this always happens when you try to download BirdsEye?

So it doesn't crash when unless you try to download BirdsEye imagery?

Which device are you trying to download BirdsEye for?

It looks like the crash is caused by some 3D display issue.

Could you try switching to 2D mode before downloading BirdsEye? You can easily do this by hitting Ctrl-2. (Ctrl-3 will go back to 3D view, Ctrl-4 will be split 2D/3D mode)

As soon as I start basecamp I get a warning that says cannot validate version of the video card driver. when I click through it I get another warning that says birdseye imagery is supported in this 450 t. Would you like to create a BE image for this device. No matter what I click, X, yes or no. The program crashes. While that warning is up I cannot change the 3d screen to 2d. I do have a toshiba laptop. I see other are having trouble with theirs. I also have the latest video driver

What happens if you start BaseCamp without the Oregon attached? That way you should see no BirdsEye message and should have time to dismiss the graphics card messages.

Then try to connect the Oregon. Does it still crash?

The root cause of this is the graphics card driver. But of course we shouldn't be crashing like this when the BirdsEye dialog comes up. We are working on having less annoying dialogs pop up, which will hopefully also fix the issue you are experiencing.

Before I plug in the 450 It says i am in 2d and the video card warning comes up. I can click through that no problem As soon as i plug in in the second pop up comes up and it automaticly changes to 3d. Then what ever I click crashes the system.

Your answer is not making me very happy I spent 460 dollars for this gps and birds eye map.

    What should I do?

Have you tried a different video card driver? The ultimate issue is with your video card driver.

If that doesn't get you anywhere, try the following:

    1. Hit Windows-R (The windows button to the left of your space button and R at the same time) to open the Run window.
    2. Paste "%APPDATA%\..\Local\Garmin_Corp" into the Run prompt (including quotes) and hit Enter.
    3. Delete everything in that folder. Keep that window open. That step will get ride of the settings of all versions of BaseCamp installations.
    4. Start BaseCamp (without the Oregon attached). And close it again. That will make sure you have the current settings of BaseCamp visible.
    5. There now should be one folder inside Garmin_Corp called something like BaseCamp.exe_Url_bzc2s5n5j2tjm5x31qtfforvybxvrxt1. (Might be different for you, but something along those lines.)
    6. Open that folder. There should be a folder 3.2.2.0 inside it. Open that folder.
    7. There should be a file named user.config in there. Replace that file with the user.config file I am attaching. I had to put user.config into a user.zip file. So you'll have to grab the user.config from the zip file.
    8. Open BaseCamp again. Connect the Oregon.

The point of this exercise is to try to make sure the BirdsEye dialog doesn't show up when you connect the Oregon by giving you a config file that specifies not to display that dialog.

Hopefully that will prevent the crash.

If that doesn't work, another possibility would be to not have BaseCamp switch to your Oregon's Topo map (and trying to use 3D view) when you connect your device. You could achieve that by a) temporarily removing the Topo map from your device or b) installing (and selecting) a different map on your PC before connecting the Oregon.

I apologize for all the trouble and that we do not have a straight-forward fix. This is a rare issue, so we'll have to be a little inventive.
