Joining tracks

Having posted a question in the MapSource forum regarding the convoluted method entailed in joining several track elements into one, it was suggested to me that I should try BaseCamp. At first, I did not understand how the process worked. Now that I believe I do, I thought it would be appropriate to post my observations here, in addition to the MapSource forum, 1) to assist others like myself and 2) to perhaps be informed if there is a better way. Here is a copy of my post:

I understand now, having found and read http://www.aschg.org/jsp/gpsToolHelp.jsp#mozTocId135640, that just two tracks at a time that connect to one another should be selected. Clicking 'Join the Selected Tracks' displays a dialog, 'Join Tracks' that provides the facilities to exchange the order of the two tracks and reverse the current direction of either one or both. Clicking 'OK' creates a new track in the list, which might be named 'Track', 'Track 001', 'Track 002', etc. according to whether such a name already exists in the list which, by this means, avoids duplication. Having joined the first and second tracks, the third must be joined to the track that is the combination of the first two, and so on. I must say, if this really is the way in which BaseCamp works, that it is still a very convoluted process. How much nicer it would be if all the track segments to be joined could be selected, arranged in order, directions reversed as necessary and a button clicked to complete the process. I expect I am far from the first user to express this wish.
