Import FIT files

It would be useful if there it was possible to import FIT files into BaseCamp.
Most of the newer Forerunners and Edges record in this format, instead of TCX.

I know there are ways around this (eg importing into Training Center, then exporting as GPX or TCX), but importing FIT files directly into BaseCamp would be more convenient.

BaseCamp will read FIT files from the device, though there is no separate FIT file import/export from the File menu. Are the FIT files you are reading not on a device?
