Sharing Basecamp Data

SWMBO and I often work on the same route files (obviously not at the same time). With Mapsource this is quite easy to achieve as we just save the individual files on a network share and both access them from there.

I can't see any way to do that in Basecamp short of exporting from one and importing in to the other. Is there a better way?

Thanks.

  • StuartMW, I am afraid you may have completely missed the sarcasm in my post?

BTW, I still have my old 8086 8-bit home computers and 5.25" floppy's from the 80's, and they function just as well now as they did then :)

No, I "got it" just fine :)

But now I really wish I'd kept those 5.25" floppies so you could read them for me :D

    /sigh

    Use Basecamp 'new database' Feature

As of version 4 or so, on Windows, at least:
    Edit | Options | General
Create New Database ==> give it a name, set the location

    You can use this to:
    1. put your database into DropBox
    2. have multiple databases for various reasons, e.g.
2a. different databases for different devices
2b. different databases for year, geographical area (e.g. state or country), activity, etc.

To get a current database into a new location, you could (probably) do an export, create new database in new location, do an import. Maybe you could do a backup and then a restore. I played around once some time ago (when this option was released) but do not recall the specifics.
