I am running low on C diskspace and use a lot for Garmin maps & BirdsEye imagery. Is it possible to relocate files to a different logical drive? Moving just the BirdsEye files (the JnxFiles folder) would really help.
I am not aware of any straight-forward way of doing this. Currently BaseCamp will always store its data in the user's AppData directory: %APPDATA%\Garmin\BaseCamp. What %APPDATA% is, depends on your version of Windows. You can always copy/paste %APPDATA% into your File Explorer to see the correct path on your system.
We will see if we can allow the user to specify a different folder in a future version of BaseCamp.
For now, you can move the entirety of the %APPDATA% folder. That would probably really help you out if you are running low on C, as it would move all kinds of data away from C, not just BaseCamp's data. This is not something I am very familiar with, but a quick Google search gave me this (for Vista), other operating systems should work similarly.
The 'AppData' folder is what you'd have to move. However, this is probably not something you want to do if you are not very familiar with Windows. You could break a lot if you do the wrong thing...
You could take a look at the JaVaWa GPS Tools - GMTK utility and see if there is a function in there that will help. It says you can use it to move map files to a different location. I have never tried that. I just run a large C: drive. I've long since given up fighting with Windows to try and segregate apps and data onto different drives.
