auto routing

Hi, I am new to the gps and basecamp and am noticing a problem for which I cant find a good answer.

I am planning a hike in Zion national park using TOPO 24K Southwest, and auto routing works fine on roads, but when I enter two waypoints in basecamp that are connected only by a marked hiking trail, basecamp creates a direct route instead of routing along the trail despite the route options being set for route style: auto-routing, and vehicle type: pedestrian.

Are clearly marked hiking trails not supported for auto-routing or am I missing something?

I have the same software and it will auto route on the trails. I use WinXP.
Did you zoom up and make sure the waypoints are on the trail?
Did you use the Route Properties window to insert the waypoints into the route?
Did you then click "Recalculate"? :D
