Basecamp and Oregon troubles

I recently purchased A Garmin Oregon 450. I transferred data from my Etrex to it. That worked great. I started using Mapsource to manage the data. Then I had trouble saving waypoints back to my GPS. Now I am trying Basecamp. I got all my points from Mapsource to Basecamp, then successfully into my GPS. I noticed later, that some points in my GPS were duplicated. I had some more data to edit. Then I reset my GPS to clear out all the data, trying to get rid of all the duplicate waypoints. I sent all the data from Basecamp to my device, but when I turn on the GPS, I get only a fraction of the waypoints. I tried it again, and the same results. The folder I made in Basecamp has all the data I want, but it’s not getting into my GPS correctly. When I then hook up my GPS, the “All Data” folder from my device has all the data I put into the GPS…so it seems it’s in the GPS, I just can’t find it. Any suggestions?
Otherwise, I’ve found Basecamp to be very similar to Mapsource and I really like being able to edit data.

    That seems odd.

From what it sounds like, you did get the data from BaseCamp onto the device (you can see it in 'All Data' under the Oregon), but you cannot get the device to recognize the data.

How many waypoints are you sending to it?

This might be more of a device question, but maybe I can help. It will require a bit of investigative work on your part.

If someone else has a different idea what might be going on, please speak up.

First I would try to reset and delete the data on the Oregon again (while still keeping it in BaseCamp). Then connect to BaseCamp (it should show no waypoints under 'All Data' for the Oregon), and send just a few waypoints to the Oregon. That should create some gpx files in your Oregon's \Garmin\gpx directory, note the name of these files. Check back on the Oregon (by disconnecting and turning the Oregon on) if it recognized the waypoints correctly. Repeat this step until the Oregon doesn't pick up the waypoints. Grab the gpx file(s) that these waypoints are in (the ones BaseCamp last created) and attach it here.

Alternatively, if it's not too much data, you can zip up all gpx files on your Oregon's \Garmin\gpx directory (not the current.gpx, I don't need that one) and give me some example names of waypoints that don't show up for you. That should allow me to try to reproduce this on one of our 450s and hopefully find a solution. You can do this via PM if you don't want to do it publicly on the forums.

I downloaded the current basecamp. I also tried an update to my gps...none available. I did delete all waypoints in my gps, but when I plug it in to basecamp, all my data that I want shows up in the all data folder. That folder should be empty if I delete them off my gps, right?

You should also be able to delete the data on your GPS by using BaseCamp. (Everything but the track log, you cannot delete the tracks that start with "Current Track").

But yes, deleting waypoints on the device should make them not show up in BaseCamp under the device anymore.

If you have the possibility to call our product support, they might get this sorted out faster for you.

    same problem here

I am having the same issues with the same equipment here. I had a Vista HCX tranferred all waypoints from mapsource to basecamp and could not transfer from basecamp to Oregon. Before I tried basecamp (didnt know it existed) I transferred the waypoints with mapsource but they show up in the Oregon 450t as duplicates. I tried deleting all waypoints also and they do not show up when not hooked up to basecamp, but they do show when hooked up.
I called customer support and worked with them fro a couple of hours. They finally said they are going to have to check into this more and call me back. That was 2 months ago and they never called back.
Can anybody help me with this???

Did they give you a ticket number or something of that sort?

No they didnt. They took my number and said they would call me back but it never happened. I kinda gave up on it till recently and I would really like to get it resolved. Is there a way to do a complete manual reset on the Oregon not just deleting all waypoints? I am wondering ifa rest would help. I think that even though I delete the waypoints they are not getting completley cleared out and that is why they will not transfer teh right way through basecamp. IDK just a thought.

    I got it fixed

It took me almost all day but I created a new folder then renamed all of my waypoints and transferred them to the new folder. Then I was able to transfer the new folder to my GPS and they look good now.

Before I started I deleted all waypoints on GPS.
