No data points in tcx export

New to BaseCamp. I created a track and there are no data points in the exported tcx file. If I export to gpx, txt or csv the data points are there.
Anyone know what the problem could be? Thanks

What do you mean by data points?

When exporting a track as tcx, BaseCamp 3.2.2 writes a tcx file with an activity that contains your track, it should include the position, altitude, HR etc.

I just get a little header information and no position points.
Attached are a csv file and a tcx file exported for the same track.

Are you using the current version (3.2.2) of BaseCamp?

We've had some issue with our auto-update servers, so you might not have gotten an update offered in case you are running an older version.

If you are running 3.2.2, please attach a gpx export of that track and I can try to reproduce what you are experiencing. I tried this again for a track on my machine and it seemed to work fine, I do get tcx files with position information.

I had just downloaded Basecamp two days ago and it is 3.2.2. I got the same thing using a different computer. I have attached files from the second computer. Both have Windows 7 64 bit OS.

This was a one time project for me and I got the tcx file by converting the gpx file. So I will not be needing to have this resolved but will check back to see if you want any more info.

    Thank you for checking back.

I believe the issue is that when you just draw a track in BaseCamp (as opposed to using a track generated by a device) that track has no time information.

Tcx requires its tracks to have time information, that is why we don't write out the track.

I assume the converter just enters a random time (probably 0:00) for each track point? What did you use to convert?

What do you need a tcx file for without time information? I talked to one of our Training Center guys and he didn't sound like a tcx file without timing information would be very useful.

If there is a good use case for tcx files with just positioning information, we'd like to know so we can think about supporting it.

I always use tcx files for basic navigation with my Edge 705. A lot of other cyclists do also because GPX files do not always follow the exact route desired. Normally I generate the tcx files using bicycle maping sites. This time I used BaseCamp with a topo map to generate a tcx file for hiking. I did it that way because that is how I know to do it. There may be better ways to generate files for hiking.

I met the same problem. I wanted to use this export for exactly the same thing as tigermountrider wanted.

If I use wingdb for making .tcx file I am even noticed when there is a turn greater than entered degrees. Because basecamp knows the background map it would insert this noticing even better. For us, users of edge 705, this feature would be useful.
