I'm sure there is an easy solution for this, can anyone please tell me how to delete the birdseye sample map off my oregon 300 using the latest version of basecamp?
You shouldn't need Basecamp for this. While your Oregon is connected to your computer, look inside the Birdseye folder which will be inside the Garmin folder. Assuming you don't want any of it, just delete any .jnx files from this folder, and all your Birdseye imagery will be gone.
The Oregon 300 (unlike the later models 400+) does not allow BaseCamp to delete its data.
So what ART2010 described is the way to go.
With an Oregon 450 e.g., you can delete the BirdsEye from the device directly from within BaseCamp (by selecting it on the device and hitting the Delete button).
Sorry for the lateness of my follow-up. I had the birdseye data stored on the installed SD card. I can confirm that basecamp will NOT allow me to delete it. I followed your instructions by deleting it manually via windows explorer by navigating to the SD disk folder containing the .jnx file and deleting it. Upon starting Basecamp, the imagery was successfully erased.
Would like to see this feature implemented within Basecamp.
