Argh!!! Everything has gone!

I got the usual message about fixing things when starting as 3.2.1 always seems to do, and now there's nothing in "my collection". Everything has disappeared!!

Argh!

On the plus side it doesn't come up with any messages when starting now, but losing all my data seems a high price to pay for this privilege!

    Ya,

Same thing happened to me after upgrading Training Center.
Scared the crap out of me.

Your data should have been automatically backed up.
BaseCamp might be different but this is for TC.
Click File > Restore > and pick the files listed.

Restore doesn't seem to help. That assumes you keep backing everything up every time you've used the program.

I see in C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\GARMIN\BaseCamp\Database\3.1 there are some .BAK files.

However in 3.2 there are none. Does it not keep backups like previous versions?

The AllData.gbd and FolderData.gfi files are both 1KB.

The previous files are still there from 3.1 (2.9 MB and 76 KB) but I made several changes since using 3.2.
Can I put those files into the 3.2 directory to try to get something back at least?

Well I do not use BaseCamp and I use WinXP so I do not know if I am giving you any help on this.

My old files were here and I was not using the Backup function but they were backed up.
    C:\Documents & Settings\Don\Application Data\Garmin\Training Center\Backup
Maybe you can substitute your name and BaseCamp and find your files?

Unfortunately, for some users 3.2.1 has some issues with user data (mainly when photo waypoints and Custom maps are involved). An upcoming 3.2.2 release should resolve these issues.

Did you add data after you upgraded to 3.2.1?

What I would suggest for now:

    Go back to 3.1.3. http://www.gawisp.com/perry/mapsource/BaseCamp_313.exe.
If you have added data in 3.2.1 that you would like to save, make a back-up of the 3.2 folder.
Delete the 3.2 folder so once you upgrade to 3.2.2 it will re-import the 3.1 database.

If you do have 3.2 data that you lost, we can see if there is something we can salvage from your 3.2 database folder. (Hopefully there are some .bak files that are not just 1KB).

I don't think I added anything. I think I was just tidying things up, moving a few things around and changing colours of the tracks to try to make them display a little better.

There are no .bak files. There were in the previous 3.0 and 3.1 folders, but nothing in 3.2 except the 1KB files and three more (empty folders).

I'm going to have to do lots of manual backups when using this program in future - I don't trust it any more.

I'll go back to 3.1 now and continue with the mangled display of the Recreational Map of Europe when I plug my device in.

I suggest that in future this program creates .bak files before trying "fix" what it perceives as problems with the data.

    Hi,
I have the same problem after installing 3.2.1.
I removed it, re-installed 3.1.3, but the problem remains.
I also removed the 3.2 folder in the Database and copied the 3.1 files. It recovers the My Collection back, but as soon as you modify something and re-start it, it comes up the same "fix" message that just uploads any backup file you may have.
Now I find myself without being able to modify anything in My Collection in either 3.1.3 or 3.2.1. Brilliant!.
When is expected the 3.2.2? Should we expect this incompatibility stuff be solved?
    Thanks

BaseCamp 3.2.2 is just around the corner.

Are you sure you are running BC 3.1.3 after re-installing it? Check Help > About BaseCamp after running it to verify the version. 3.1.3 should not be affected by this at all and should run just like it did before you upgraded.

Absolutely. I understand it's weird, but yes, I checked it after removing anything that may smell of 3.2.1.
BTW, uninstalling Basecamp is not an easy issue : since there is no uninstall option, Windows performs the task, but there are many files and folders that remain there (the database, for instance) and that must be manually erased.
For the sake of my sleep, hurry up with 3.2.2! ;-)
    Thanks!

Ok. 3.1.3 is now working, but the uninstalling thing needs to be much tougher : direct manual erasing from the Program Files (uninstall is useless by itself)
    Regards.

I am glad you got 3.1.3 to work! I apologize for the uninstall issues, we will look into it, uninstall seemed to work fine in our testing.

3.2.2 is in the pipes, barring any issues when testing, you should see it online for download soon.
