Im new.

Ive had a 60csx for years and used Mapsource not a problem.

Now I have a 450.

I have read I need to connect to it using Basecamp.

The manual that came with it is crap.

I have set the interface up in the 450 for 'Garmin Serial'.

This is written in the online help

Connect your GPS device to your computer using a USB cable. Your device name appears in the Library and Devices area. Click All Data below your device name to view items on your device.

I dont see my GPS there at all.

When I connect to my PC I get "USB Cable detected. Would you like to go to Mass Storage". I have tried selecting yes and no. I still cant see my GPS in Basecamp.

I get the drive letter coming up on "My Computer" and have a 1gb sd card installed.

What am I missing.

I tried the search engine with no luck also.

Please help.

If you´re in Mass storage mode, that should be OK. Because as far as I know that´s the mode you need to use to see the device in Basecamp. I don´t really know what´s going on on your side, but if you can see the drives and access them in Windows I don´t see why it should not work for Basecamp.

Maybe someone else can help here, but I think it would be useful to have your Basecamp and Firmware Version of the Oregon also. Maybe there have been Bugs in one of the previous Versions which you are probably using? Even when you bought the 450 recently, it´s highly possible that it comes with an outdated Firmware.

BTW: My device is set up as Garmin Spanner. Maybe you should try this one?

Try using Mass-Storage mode. See if BaseCamp recognizes it then.

I shut down iTunes and it worked.

Go figure.

Now I cant register my product because Garmin plug-in dosent work with Fireox 5.0??

So many fails.

I apologize for all the troubles.

However, the plugin works just fine with Firefox 5.0 for me.

I would suggest calling customer support (http://www.garmin.com/garmin/cms/home/support/supportcontact). Hopefully they will be able to get the plug-in working for you.
