We have been teaching GPS classes and we did switch to BaseCamp this year. Actually for the classroom, it seems easier then MapSource.
Recently we did a class and a couple of computers needed to install .Net framework. The class was in rural IL and it took over an hour for it to download and install!.
I looked into what BaseCamp needs and it is: .NET framework 3.5 SP1 is required.
It also says "A current version of .NET will be installed if needed" but it seems to have to come from Microsoft.
Again download is so slow in rural areas that it is a killer (232 mg file). What I would like to do to get around it by burning a copy of the software to a CD ( actually several) and have them around just in case.
My question is will that work? When BaseCamp starts to install, and it needs NET framework it stops and tries to download it. SO I am figuring that if it does. Cancel the install, switch CDs and install the Net framework first and then rerun the BaseCamp install.
I don't have any computers to test it on nor a person to contact with BaseCamp that could say YES or NO
thanks again for your time
