problems importing gpx files to basecamp

I recently bought a garmin edge 800 and have dowloaded a gpx file for an audax i was interested in doing. When i have tried to import the file to basecamp it comes up with an error opening file. I am able to import my own routes from connect and training center so i thought it may be a corrupt file but i was able to import the file to the mapmyride website with no problem i just wondered if anyone knew what i was doing wrong ir if there was any way round this?

The file is most likely invalid. If our parser rejects the file, we won't open it. Other programs are much more forgiving.

What people have done is to use GPS-Babel (http://www.gpsbabel.org) and set the input, as well as the output format as gpx. That will create a valid XML document that we will read.

If it's just one file, you might also just attach it here in the forums, and someone might to nice enough to fix it for you.
