Manual upload of BaseCamp exported gpx

I discovered that if I upload from GPSMap 60CSx to BC and export to my PC as gpx I can't upload it to Garmin Connect. This is a well known issue in other Garmin fourms. Workaround is to set the 60CSx to also store tracks on the SD card, then set it to USB after connecting to the PC. Then browse to it with Connect and upload faultlessly. One user reported that the problem is the BaseCamp export does not include time and elevation.

Just thought someone in the BaseCamp development team should know.
  • Just to be clear, I first SAVE the file on the 60CSx, then upload it to BaseCamp, then Export it to the PC, then attempt to upload it to Connect. So, it could be a fault in the Save process on the 60CSx. Bottom line is it doesn't work.

Would you mind sharing such a gpx file? Ideally, once before you send it to BaseCamp and then once BaseCamp is done exporting.

This is my 3rd try in answering... keep getting logged out then it won't let me back in for an hour or so!

The PMCFalls.gpx was Saved on 60CSx and sent to BaseCamp, then Exported. Note missing time stamp in track points. Connect won't accept. The other one was grabbed directly from the SD card using USB Mass Storage setting on th 60CSx. Connect accepts it just fine. It has time stamps.

Thanks for getting back to us.

I found a 60c in our office and tested this out myself.

I am afraid this is a limitation of the device. For some reason, we do not get the time-stamp information when receiving a (saved) track via Garmin mode from that device.

We do get time-stamped tracks when we just receive the active track.

So the work-around would be either to grab the track as 'ACTIVE LOG' or do what you did with mass storage mode.

If you import 20110617.gpx into BaseCamp and then export it GarminConnect should read it. BaseCamp does not strip the time stamps, it never gets them in the first place. MapSource shows the same behavior.

    I apologize for the inconvenience.
