Is there a way that I can backup all of my user settings for my Rino 530HCx?
Garmin mentioned using Base Camp, but that appears to only back up my routes, maps, tracks and waypoints. I need to do a reset on my Rino, and would like to back up my user settings, so I don't have to go through that all again. It has taken me a few months to get my Rino settings to where they are today, and which work best for me.
Also, when my Rino is connected to my PC, there is nothing that shows up under "computer" (running windows 7 home premium), but my Nuvi shows up as a hard drive. Why doesn't my Rino show up as a hard drive?

Thanks in advance.

BaseCamp (or any Garmin software for that matter) won't backup and restore your rhino's user settings.

The nuvi uses mass storage mode, which means that it shows up as a drive in windows explorer. The rhino uses Garmin's USB driver for communication with pc. It won't show up as a drive. Only applications that know how to use the driver to talk to the device can communicate with it.

Ok, I guess I'm outta luck then. There is a very important suggestion for Garmin. Make all of your GPSr products, with the ability to backup and save user settings. You would think that for a unit that costs $500 retail, they would have thought of this, as well as making it so it charges the unit when you have it plugged into your PC, like the Nuvi.

I now have another thing to add to my long list of improvements they can make to the Rino's.
Now I have to figure out the right person to send the list to....

You can't back up your user settings; going back to what you have now should not be that big a deal. Capture screenshots of your settings if it really is a problem

    Wrong.

Main Menu --> Setup --> Interface --> USB Mass Storage

Your Garmin Rino will open as a removable disk. Not as an internal HD, but I assume the OP is interested in accessing the Garmin, not semantics.

Assuming you have "Log Track To Data Card" set up, you'll see all your Active Logs saved as dated .gpx files, along with a Garmin folder containing the gmapsupp.img file and a Poi folder with any POI .gpi files you might have.

Reference your comment about charging the Rino when attached via USB cable, I'm not an electronics guy but I'll take a guess the reason is that is a pretty skookum battery to have the juice to be able to transmit with 5W of power. Charging those batteries might be asking a bit much from a USB connection.
