newbie to gpsmap62s and basecamp

hi guys,

before im using mapsource to download data from my gps receivers and save/export it to dxf format...so that i can import it to arcview and manifold.

but with the new gps i got which is gpsmap62s, i dont know how to export the waypoints and tracklogs with the format that is readable by arcview or manifold.

anyone of you guys tried it? could you please help me? Thanks.

You should be able to do that with GPSBabel (Google that).

thanks but it's not working, although i already downloaded gpsbabel but none of the output formats are compatible to import Manifold software.

Contact GPSBABEL's author, he may have a good solution .

In BaseCamp, Export... the list containing your data and save in the .gdb file format. Open that .gdb file with MapSource and Save As... a .dfx file.

Case closed.

DId you try MDNR free software?

We teach GIS and GPS to educators. I agree it would be nice if Garmin built it into their software to export it into the correct format for ArcView and GIS. However the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources developed a free piece of software that will eith download the tracks or the waypints directly into a .shp file to use with ArcGIS and ArcView

yes i will do that because i think there are no other better ways as of now...but i'm still hoping and looking for better and direct solutions without using other tools.
