Problem reading topo map in basecamp

Hi, we have bought a garmin 62S and a topo map of NZ. Map supplied on micro SD card and CD. The CD specifically states "CD-Rom for use with Garmn Mapsource PC software".
Have got the topo maps working brilliantly on the GPS (now that we have disabled the basemaps), but we would like to be able to view it on our PC so we can preplan trips etc. Looking at the CD it only has one file on it Gmapsupp.img (608,544kb) which is exactly the same file as that on the micro SD when I view it in Windows explorer.
I don't seem to be able to see the topo maps in Basecamp (or mapsource). When I turn on Basecamp (with the GPS connected) on the left side the device comes up and under GPSMAP 62S is a folder "Data" - very briefly I get a flash of GMAPTZ underneath the Data then it goes away.
Can anyone give me some clues as to how we can view the topo maps??
I queried the CD with the retailer and just got a reply to say "sorry supplied with old packaging, it is a backup of SD file in case it gets corrupted"!!!

I don't think there is really any way to use such a file in either Mapsource or Basecamp. Basecamp can access a gmapsupp.img file on a card if it was supplied by Garmin, but not from third parties (in my experience).
