basecamp.exe - ordinal not found

I have a Garmin Oregon 450 and I have installed the current BaseCamp application on my laptop.
Other than the allert that I need the OpenGL1.3 drivers for my display (which aren't available) for 3D display, all worked well.
Today I tried running BaseCamp and got the windows dialogue "BaseCamp.exe - Ordinal not found." "The ordinal 65533 could not be located in the dynamic link library" and some hyroglyphics following.
I have un-installed and re-installed BaseCamp but that did not correct the problem.
I am running XP tablet with SP3 installed.
Has anyone got any suggestions please?

    Same here

Made no changes (that I know about) and BaseCamp gives this error. It was working fine a couple of days ago.

Running Vista on a Dell desktop.

    Y2K+11 bug???

Can someone please check and post the error message from the event viewer?

    1. Try to launch BaseCamp
    2. Close the "Ordinal not found" error message
    3. Press Win+R on keyboard, type in "eventvwr.msc"
    4. For Vista/Win 7, select Custom Views -> Administrative Events
    For XP, select Application
    5. Look for the error message for BaseCamp, it should be at the top of the list (check the timestamp).
    6. For Vista/Win 7 user, if you can't find it, try looking under Windows Logs -> Application instead.

There could be multiple error messages for BaseCamp (please post them all). We're hoping to get more clue of what's going on.

    Also,
    a) What language of BaseCamp are you running?
    b) When was the last time you were able to run BaseCamp?
    c) Did you install any software, Windows updates or driver updates recently?
    d) If you're comfortable with System Restore, please try restoring back to an earlier checkpoint and let us know if it help.

    basecamp.exe - ordinal not found

    KFPANDA,
many thanks for your interest and reply.
I attempted to run BaseCamp as requested and received the same error message.
The event viewer under "Application" showed NO events relating to BaseCamp at all, and an event was not logged for the time I ran BaseCamp. There are heaps of events logged for Google Update, but I guess that will be another issue. I haven't noticed a problem relating to Google.
Under "System", in the Event Viewer panel there are lots of Application Popup reports which refer to the BaseCamp issue and show the text of the popup. The latest one has a time stamp for the test run I did to answer this message.
    The Event Properties show
    Type Information Event ID: 26
for all of the BaseCamp popups.
The first such event was logged on the 3rd of Jan, so that would be the first occurrence of the problem.
I am running English, and I have installed lots of applications over the holidays, and that might include windows updates. I can't be specific there.
I would be reluctant to run a restore, as that would stuff up what I have done to date, but if you really need it, I will take an image to restore after doing your bidding.
    Cheers, and thanks again
    Ray

    THENOMADS,
    Thanks for the reply.

Unfortunately event ID 26 doesn't give us any clue :(

Is there any file name in the error message? I'm suspecting the error message look like this:
"The ordinal XX could not be located in the dynamic link library XXXXX.dll"

And if you don't mind, please post or pm me the list of software you installed recently. I'll try to reproduce the crash on my end.

Finally, I would suggest you to run SFC (System File Checker). SFC is a utility in Microsoft Windows that allows users to scan for and restore corruptions in Windows system files. It is available on XP and Vista as well.

    basecamp.exe - ordinal not found

    Thanks again KFPANDA,
There is only garbage after the reference to the DLL.
Attached is a copy and paste from the Application popup

Application popup: BaseCamp.exe - Ordinal Not Found : The ordinal 65533 could not be located in the dynamic link library Uè‹‹Mè‹P8ÿÒ‰….

Regarding the programs I have installed (and some uninstalled) several are proprietary and not available for external testing. I did upgrade MapSource to the latest version 6163 and Webupdater 242.
I'll look into the SFC utility and get back with the results.
    Cheers

I have un-installed and re-installed BaseCamp but that did not correct the problem.
I am running Win XP Pro with SP3 installed on both laptops.

I've been working with Garmin Support Tech (R.C.) and tried repairing Win .NET Framework 3.5 service pack 1...a long process that didn't correct anything.
I have 2 laptops with the same problem at the same time.

Tried reinstalling Version 311 that just changed the error a bit, then reinstalled Version 306 that just sits and doesn't boot.

The last time BaseCamp worked for me was 12/27/2010 on both laptops... Y2K+11 bug???

Good Luck I'll be watching this thread.

    KFPANDA,
I have now run sfc /scannow.
It took about 15 - 20 minutes and at the end, it vanished and told me nothing.
    No report.
I have run BaseCamp getting the same ordinal error.
