Joining routes

When I'm using Basecamp to create a route, everytime I click any of the controls such as ZOOM, the program completes my route and I have to start all over again. Or begin constructing an entirely new route. The program won't let me continue where I left off.

Is there a way to resume your route plan if you have to use some of the program controls? Is there a way to easily join routes together? There are controls to divide, erase, move and insert points...why not join? What am I missing here?

This program is really cluncky. Should not be this difficult to create a route. Wow.
  • Instead of using the toolbar, use the shortcuts for tool changes, "control+H" for the hand tool, "control+Z" for zoom, etc. I agree that the route editing tools need some work.

There is an option to join routes. Select the routes you want to join, right click and select Advanced->Join the selected routes.
  • join tracks and routes

When I make route planning on basecamp for mountain biking I usually have some trip segments that can be calculated using a loaded vector street map, selecting start and end points and using Create Route using selected waypoints, however, for other segments I have to plot a manual track based on birdseye view imagery or raster custom maps. I end up with some route segments and some track segments which I would like to join as one big track which is the way I like to load the trip data onto a oregon unit, so that I can use the auto generated high and low points and have total remaining distance ETA for the whole trip.
    Question # 1
Is there a way to convert routes to tracks? Currently I have to send the routes and tracks to google earth or export it to a gpx and make the segment joins In other program which also lets me set the trackpoint altitude based on nasa srt hgt files. That would be
Question #2 is there a way to get elevation data in tracks or routes if the base vector map does not have DEM data?

You don't see any options when you right click on a route!? I would check if you have the latest version of BaseCamp. Make sure your route is selected in the list. And you have to right click on the list, not on the route displayed on the map.

If you right click, see a bunch of options and you are noticing that the 'Join' option is disabled, what that means is that you have selected a single route. Select two routes that you want to join, and this option will become enabled.
