How can i display 2 Garmin maps in BC

Hi, i think i know the question to this--but i gotta ask. Hopefully someone can tell me how.

When i bot my O450, i also bought the City Navigator NA 2011 (CN). I just bought the Garmin Rails to Trails (R2T) West Map. The R2T map has with it the PC BaseMap which is part of BC, and about as much detail (read VERY little)--iow good only for major streets and roads.

I want to display the bike/walking/multiuse trails on the R2T map, but with the detail of minor streets/roads i have on my CN map---kinda like combining the 2--the R2T trails, with the map of CN. I would use this detail to create a Route to drive to the trailhead.

How do i do that? Hopefully pressing 2 keys while selecting the maps from the dropdown---I just haven't found which keys yet :)

BasCamp does not have the feature you are trying to find.
  • Actually BaseCamp can display 2 maps when they are both in single img file in GPS. I assume this is unsupported feature but it works, here for example road map with contour map:

Popej, Is it possible to combine two img files somehow? I have the 24k West and 24k Southwest Topo maps and would love to combine them.
I live in Vegas, very near the AZ border and of course NV is on the West disc and AZ is on the Southwest disc.
  • You don't need to combine maps for Oregon. Oregon should see maps with any name and extension img. You can simply rename files and write both on SD or to internal memory, in each case into directory \Garmin.

If you have maps installed on PC, than you can create combined img with Mapsource. Simply select one map, than switch to second, select and send both at once to your GPS.

If you really want to merge multiple img, you can use program gmaptool.

I don't know your maps. If you bought them on SD cards they can be locked to SD, so won't work without original SD inside your GPS. This would disable possibility to use both at once.

I'm the OP. I should have mentioned--kinda what POPEJ just posted.

On my Oregon 450, I see both the City Navigator AND my R2T trails, which are both Enabled.

Now if only BC could do that :)
