Hi, could someone tell me if a route created in basecamp and sent to a nuvi 3790t can it be used as a trip or route. I can send it to the gps unit but cant find it to use. Is this possible or not. All the waypoints are accessible as favorites surely the routes are . Can someone explain what to do.
The 3700 series is not compatible with route transfer from any software at this time. This has been a hot topic of discussion on several other forums. In response to users, Garmin has posted the following in their knowledge base. Although it specifically mentions Mapsource, the same holds true for Basecamp.
Question:
Will the nuvi 3700 series ever have the ability to transfer routes from MapSource into the device?
Answer:
At this time the nuvi 3700 series does not have the ability to manually receive created routes from MapSource or any third party applications.
Garmin intends to add this functionality into the nuvi 3700 series via a software update sometime in the future. Current plans call for the update to be released in the first quarter of 2011.
The nuvi 3700 series does offer the functionality to manually create multiple point routes on the device itself through the Trip Planner feature listed under the Tools menu.

Has anyone got news from Garmin about the ability to load routes into the nuvi3790 device from Mapsource or Basecamp? Q1-2011 is over by now.

As you probably know, BaseCamp happily sends routes to the device; the device chooses to ignore it. Since this forum is about BaseCamp, this thread is probably not going to have much effect since nobody from the device team has ever commented on this forum. I would call Product Support for this issue.
Evidently Garmin has changed their mind and will NOT make the 3700 series compatible with routes created on the computer. The FAQ that I posted above was removed from Garmin's website about a month ago. See the following: http://forums.gpsreview.net/viewtopic.php?t=22755
As to your other question, unfortunately, I do not think they will be adding compatibility for Mapsource with your device. With Best Regards,

Of course, this is third hand information so I suggest that you contact Garmin Support yourself to confirm. But basically, I think you're out of luck. This has been discussed on other sites and there are even a couple other threads in some of the forums here. FWIW, I also own a 3790t.
