How do you print a map from BaseCamp at 1:24000 scale? USGS quadrangle maps are printed at a scale of 1:24000. This is very helpful because scale on compass's is also 1:24000 which helps the person to measure the distance in miles.

After playing around I think I have the answer. In BaseCamp select File-Print. In the Print Setup page select the Actual Size button. This will print a max scale that is one inch on the paper. I believe this is equivalent to a one inch on a 1:24000 scale.

    Scales are tricky critters.
    1:24000 means 1" = 24000" or 1' = 24000' or 1mile = 24000miles.
So to check your printed map you could place 2 waypoints 72000" apart on the map and they should measure 3" between them after printing.

BaseCamp uses meters so 72000" = 1829 meters.

Remember to set your printer on "No Scale" or 100%.
