Cant get 3.1.1 to work

I was wondering if other users are in the same boat as me. I have checked everything I know how too and cant seem to get this new version to work. The timing couldn't be worse two weeks til hunting season the only reason I bought a subscription to
Birdseye and they force out an update that doesn't work.

The problem I'm having is similar to ones I here others complaining about. Downloaded new version and everything seems to work right up to the point where the Basecamp GUI starts to launch the side panels to the left of the main map page. Then I get a response back from Windows 7 that Basecamp has stopped working. If I didn't have any problems running the previous version what do I need to upgrade to make this version work. I have gone to the ASUS web site and upgraded my video driver and don't know where to go from here. I have read where people are making it work by deleting certain files and then launching Basecamp and it will come up and run. I am just having a hard time finding these files in Windows 7 directories.

Is there any place to go where I could download the previous version so I can at least get back up and running.

Here is the message that I get from Windows 7. Its the same as what others have posted but thought I would include it in this post. And below that is a portion of Direct X Diag showing my system info I'm hoping this might help.

I would try cleaning up some files on your computer to see if that helps. Note: please do this only if you are comfortable browsing and deleting folders (possibly hidden) in your computer using Windows Explorer. There is also a risk that your user data may be lost.

First of all, make a backup (by making a copy and storing it elsewhere) of this folder: C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Roaming\Garmin\BaseCamp. <UserName> is the login username you use.

Next, delete all the following folders:
    C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Roaming\Garmin\BaseCamp
    C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Local\Garmin\BaseCamp
    C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Local\GARMIN_Corp
    C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Local\Temp\BaseCamp
    C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Local\Temp\Garmin Software Updates

Now launch BaseCamp. I would expect BaseCamp to start up without any of your data. Now you can quit BaseCamp and restored the folder you backed up. If BaseCamp errors out on startup again, send me the folder you backed up.

    Up and running, But

Thanks for your help I did get up and running but, I don't see any of my old data that I assume should have came back in when I replaced the folder that I originally copied from here.

    C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Roaming\Garmin\BaseCamp

When I go to the path above and open the folder BaseCamp I see two more folders one called BaseCamp and one called Database. Seeing a folder called Basecamp in a folder named basecamp kinda throws me a little but I will assume its correct and I haven't messed up my copy of the original.

The total size of the C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Roaming\Garmin\BaseCamp including the two other sub folders is 413MB. Quite a lot of data but none of it shows up where I think it should in the BaseCamp GUI under Library My Collection.

Since all of my data is still in my GPS can I delete any of this 413MB of data and have it re-read by connecting my GPS and then add it back into "My Collection". Which I haven't done as of yet, I wanted to get your input first. If I let it re-read the data from the GPS will I end up with a folder twice the size that has only half of its contents as usable data.

I probably could just plug up my GPS and be on my way but I wanted to run this last part past the experts first not wanting to chance corrupting the data I already do have loaded up on my GPS.

Thank you for getting me this far, your help is greatly appreciated.

    Dave,

Go ahead and get your data from your device into BaseCamp. Once you have verified that you got all your data, you can delete the backup you created.
