How do you transfer waypoints that are in Topo Mid-Atlantic 24K to Basecamp? It is easy to do for MapSource but I can't figure out how to do it for Basecamp.
Just so I am sure I understand what you are saying, I wanted to differentiate two related concepts: Waypoints and Points of Interest. Waypoints are positions that you, as a user, can save. Points of Interest are part of the map data. For example, a camping site in your TOPO U.S. 24K - Mid-Atlantic map.
I am assuming you are talking about waypoints here. Having said that, based on your description, I do not understand how you created it. Could you elaborate a bit more? How did you create this waypoint? What exactly do you do in MapSource for which you are trying to find a parallel in BaseCamp?
If you are talking about transferring waypoints from MapSource to BaseCamp, you can Export it from MapSource and Import it into BaseCamp.
Hope this clarifies. While scouting for places to hunt deer I use the waypoint function to create, label, and save, locations on the GPS, of positions where I am standing to mark those locations for future use. I also created tracks through the woods, and saved them, so I can return next month when hunting season starts. All this is done with Topo 24K on my etrex Vista HCx. I want to view this same map, and data, on my PC. I was told to use Basecamp, linked to the eTrex and mass storage device, to view the 24K map. That works fine. However, when I use Basecamp, connected to the eTrex, to view the Topo 24K map there are no waypoints, or tracks, even thought they are on the eTrex. I can find noway to transfer them to the PC.
If I understand your last statement correctly I need to transfer waypoints from my eTrex to Mapsource, then export to Basecamp. Is that correct? If so I tried and could not figure out how to export from Mapsource to Basecamp.
Your etrex Vista HCx should show up in the top left side when you launch BaseCamp with the device connected. If you click on the device, it will show you all the waypoints, routes and tracks that BaseCamp found on the device.
If you want to copy your data from your device to BaseCamp, you can drag and drop the data you want from your device to 'My Collection'.
I followed your instructions but nothing comes up when I click on my device in the Basecamp library. In the Help menu it said to go to Edit, click on Send To and transfer the data that way. That worked.
