We are currently investigating the BirdsEye outage that occurred over the weekend.

It appears that service was restored around 9AM PDT this morning.

I'll post again when we have more information.

A couple things I want to clarify based on what I read in the other thread that was discussing the issue.

    1. The forums are staffed by the desktop application developers. Unfortunately with a system such as BirdsEye that has numerous moving pieces (Garmin servers, partner servers, our software, etc) we don't have visibility into every piece.

    2. The boards are only monitored 8-5 M-F. Even then because its only developers checking it may be hours or even the next day before you get a response.

    3. The forums are primarily meant for feedback on the applications, not as product support. If you think that expanded support forums are useful please make your voices heard to our product support team.

With all that being said we will still try to do the best we can to help out with issues that are posted.

I'll admit, I was a little frustrated and mad when my downloads weren't working, and I knew there were others having the same problem.....That being said, I'm over it...

Is there any form of product support 24/7?

Did anyone from Garmin know this was happening? If so, a thread on this forum may have been helpful, at least stating there is a problem, but it is being worked on.

At this time there isn't any 24/7 support.

One of the things we are looking to improve is detection and recovery for issues when the engineers aren't on site.

I'm not certain if anyone else was aware of the issues until we came into work this morning. Just speaking for myself waiting for the customers to complain is too late for a problem to be detected.

BirdsEye seems to be having the same issue today, again.

BirdsEye seems to be having the same issue today, again. I just tried to download a couple of areas and the downloads stay paused.
  • No problems here al day long.

No downloading problems today. However, I did notice that the images (at least in my area) aren't recent as advertised. The imagery in my neighborhood is the exact same imagery as on Google Earth. I guess it just depends on what area Garmin wants to spend their money to shoot new imagery.

By the way, I tried getting a refund and was denied. The exact words from the representative were "we can't give you a refund after you purchase an item", I was amazed. I am a GIS analyst and work with sub meter BirdsEye imagery and NAVTEQ data daily and this product is definitely not sub meter.

It must have been fixed after I logged off around 9:30 AM because it is working this evening.

Everything that we can see from our end looks good as of 10:00 MST.
