Route distorted on 60cx

I am new to the forum so please excuse me if this post is a duplicate- but I've searched for quite some time and could not find an answer on old posts.
When I create a route via auto route on BC for a backcountry trip, it follows the trail perfectly. However, when I transfer the route to my 60cx GPS, it only displays straight lines that are quite a bit off from the trail. I have topo 24k (north central) loaded on my computer and GPS, and this map is confimred as present on my GPS unit.
I get the same problem when using mapsource as well. My routing is set to "prompted" as I believe it must be.

Please help if you can- I am doing a difficult trek in Glacier and want to make sure I can count on my GPS route!

thanks.

Unfortunately we do not have any forums setup specifically for our devices to help answer your question.

Your best bet would be to contact our product support team by e-mail or by phone. Their contact information is available from http://garmin.com/support.

thanks for your reply. I did e-mail the question 4 days ago to customer service, and again today, but did not yet get a response. I have not previously had any problems with my 60cx and I suspect the problem lies in my not fully understanding the Basecamp or mapsource software (eg. improper creation of the maps).

You might try posting your question here:

    or here:

You did transfer your map to the 60CSX as well as the route didn't you?

Thanks for the help. I'll try to post it here. Yes, I loaded the topo24k maps onto my unit, and confirmed its presence.

I wonder if the autorouting done on BC and mapsource when you pick 2 points along a trail, simply dos not show up on the GPS unit map. Perhaps when I show up to the trail the unit will guide me correctly, but in advance on the map it will not autoroute like BC or mapsource.

I called Garmin customer service and they could not give me a clear answer or fix.

Make sure your routing options are set to "follow roads", or something similar. If not, you'll navigate in a straight line.

So after staying up and working on the issue for several days, and phone calls to Garmin, I think I have gained some understanding. When creating an auto route in basecamp, and then transferring to the GPS unit (at least the 60cx), the autorouting does not transfer on the viewabe maps. It comes out only as straight lines like tracks.

However, when I go thru dem mode and reset my location near the point of interest (so I don't have to navigate from Florida to Montana), and then "navigate" the route, the GPS unit does auto route and follow the trail on the map.

So although the autorouting is not viewable simply by viewing the autoroute transferred from BC, it will properly follow the autorouting map once actually navigating the route.

    Same issue.

    Hi there!
Did you manage to resolve your problem?
I am using a Montana and have the same problem. It seems as though I can get round it by converting the Route to a Track on BC and then transferring the Track to the Montana. Shouldn't be necessary, but perhaps I am expecting too much.
Thanks for any pointers you can give.
