Basecamp 3.0.5 problem w/ 24K topo Mid-Atlantic

Since there's not a DVD available for Mid-Atlantic 24K topo map, I downloaded it onto an 8gb microSDHC card today, only to have major problems when I tried to load in BaseCamp. I have an Edge 705, but these problems also happened with the card in a reader and plugged into my computer. I have 12GB of RAM and 3GHz+ processor, running Windows 7 64-bit. I called tech support but they can't figure out problem, for now at least. I am curious if others have had same problem, or if administrator has some ideas of what is going on here.

Once the 24K topo map loads in BaseCamp, I go to File-New-Route to create a new route. Then it lets me add a couple of points before different errors come up - some are pasted below, and at other times, it just says "initiating" and then the program freezes or closes down. Here are the errors I get otherwise:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" standalone="no" ?>
<ErrorReport xmlns="www.garmin.com/.../v1">

<Error>
<Exception>
<SubId>Bad allocation - requested 65536 bytes</SubId>
<SourceCodeLocation>
<SourceFileName>WIN_BADALLOCATION.CPP</SourceFileName>
<SourceFileLine>41</SourceFileLine>
</SourceCodeLocation>

and the 2nd error...

<Error>
<Exception>

</SourceCodeLocation>

    As an update, I tried to make this work with BaseCamp on Windows XP (w/ service pack 3) and the same problems occurred. Therefore, I believe it's an issue between this version of Basecamp and the Mid-Atlantic 24K topo file

    I'm not sure if the downloadable version will work in Basecamp?

    I have the 24k Northeast topo on a pre-loaded garmin data card, and it works properly in Basecamp when I insert the card in a USB reader. Are you trying to access the map while the card is plugged into your 60csx and connected to your computer? That will probably not work because the 60csx is a very slow USB 1.0 interface. Try using the card in a high speed USB 2.0 reader instead and see if it works.

    Based on the error report, this sounds like the issue mentioned in this post.
