I have what I think/hope is a stupid question about creating routes with Basecamp. I did a search for this hoping someone else had asked it but I didn’t see anything so hey flame away but I’m getting frustrated.
The issue is this, I created a route and downloaded it into my GPSmap 60CSx. When I got to the trail I discovered that I had somehow created a waypoint on every single place on the trail where I clicked while making the route. It was a rather twisty trail so there were oh say 100 waypoints in a 5 mile hike. I have a notoriously bad sense of direction but not even I need a waypoint every few feet.
I had to build the route that way because when I tried to click further apart on the trail I was getting a direct line instead of a route that followed the trail. I know I’ve done this with Mapsource so there has to be a way to change some setting in Basecamp to allow this but I can’t figure out what it is.
It actually looks the same way on the screen so you’d think I would have figured out that it was going look that way on the GPS but I was hoping that magic fairies would fix it before I hit the trail, yea so that didn’t work out.
I’m depressed and saddened by the fact that there doesn’t seem to be any sort of manual for Basecamp because I do so love manuals, but I’ve more or less figured it out except this one thing.
Does anyone know what setting I have wrong?
thanks
