Is their any tutorials for working with files from a GPS?

Here is what I want to do, a friend went riding some really cool trails on his ATV I want to ride the same trails in the future so he sent me the data from his GPS I can see the trails in BaseCamp and I can see them in google earth how do I upload them to my Nuvi 500 and make the trails appear so when I get to the riding area I can turn on my GPS then follow his trails?

Once they are uploaded to the GPS how can I navigate to the trails and look at them to verify they are their.

I have read the book and just dont get it, they tell me how to upload the files but I dont know where to upload them do I send them to the Nuvi 500 or to the removable media? Once they are uploaded then what?

Thanks in advance.

Next I used google earth to create a trail on the map, I was looking at a file from a past riding trip with google earth, I zoomed in and seen on the map where it looks like I could keep going on the trail and also seen what looks like additional trail systems, using the "add path " tool in google earth I traced out the trails I want to check out on my next trip then saved the file.

So how do I upload the file into my Nuvi 500 then look at it to verify its their so when I return to that area I can then follow the trails I mapped out?

    Thanks again.

I'm going to point you to a great post made by forum user RONDI7 that talks about the differences with routes and tracks. That should get you about 90% of the way there. If you have additional questions please feel free to keep posting :)

    Hi
Thanks for the reply, I read that post and its no help for me I have no "Track Manager" or "Settings/Track/Record " to click on in my Nuvi 500 what he says does make sense.

Again thanks but without knowing exactly what buttons to push in my Nuvi 500 I am lost.

As per your other posting, it is likely that you will get more assistance by posting in the correct hardware (device) forum as this question is not about BaseCamp.

Unfortunately we do not have any forums setup specifically for our devices.

Our product support team prefers the 1-on-1 support they can provide by e-mail or by phone. Their contact information is available from http://garmin.com/support.

I apologize if it seems I am trying to send you around in circles but the questions are beyond the scope of just BaseCamp technical feedback.

I guess I am surprised they setup forums to support some products but not all, I called the 800 help line it said it was very backed up and their was more than a 30 minute wait the computer suggested I try sending a email so I sent one will see what happens, thanks for the help.

Its a shame their is no support here on the message board where you can build a search able database its also too bad their is no tutorials for using the products.

    Thanks again for the assistance.

There is support here on the message board (I have suggested a way forward for you in your other message thread). In the end it comes down to the issue that the Nuvi may not be capable of what you are trying to do. Certainly it is not intended for this kind of use. If you do the investigation that I suggested then you may discover that it can be done but it shouldn't really be a surprise for you if there are no tutorials about how to do it.
