Oregon 450 Heart Rate & Cadence Sensor display

I search this forum and found no hits.

Before i buy the above, i want to make sure i can display the data along with my Elevation & Track.

I doesn't appear BC imports them. True?

I know Garmin Connect does, but i want something self contained in my laptop.

If it's not available--is there any chance it will be in the future?

Thanks, Ron

Have you tried Garmin Training Center? That is our desktop fitness application.

The forums are available at https://forums.garmin.com/forumdisplay.php?f=185 if you need more information.

    Thanks for the tip.

I just installed it and used it to look at my last ride, minus the HR & Cadence--since it's "In the mail".

First i need to convert my .gpx file to a .tcx since my Oregon 450 doesn't produce a .tcx file. it's no effort to do, but now i have extra files with the "same info" in them.--- TC does not recognize an Oregon.

I really like the BC "Playback" and it would be nice to combine the cadence and hr with the current playback. GTC does not have Playback--just a static display with 4 data overlaid. You can see it all, but it looks "busy".

Again, Thanks Zhenkel for the tip,
    Ron

Both applications are developed out of the same office so there is often a cross-pollination of ideas. At this time though we don't have any plans to fitness related features to BaseCamp.

Zhenkel, thanks for the reply, altho it is disappointing to read you won't be supporting fitness in Basecamp. I would like you to consider 1 thing tho. When i connect my Oregon 450 to my PC with Basecamp open, i see the contents of my Track (.gpx file) in my O450. When i highlight the Track, and File/Export/Export Selection BC strips off the Heart Rate and Cadence data.

If i copy the file manually via Windows Explorer, or use TCX Converter--the HR & Cad data are imported. But this is pretty cumbersome..... It does show the O450 "saves" the data when a Current Track is saved.

Would you consider---Leave the Heart Rate & Cadence data intact when the File/Export/Export Selection is used directly from the recognized unit?

    Thanks for listening, Ron

Good point. Even if we aren't adding specific support for the extensions it would be good if we could maintain the data when it is saved back out.

I'll add this to our feature database to get looked at .

    Really good point

I do agree, it would be really good if you include the HR and CR information.

This reply is several years late for the OP, but I know I would have liked to have found this out in a concise form a few weeks ago. I was using MapMyFitness and Garmin Training Center to try and track bicycling with an Oregon 450 linked with a heart rate and cadence/speed sensor. The data displayed just fine on the unit, but uploading the .gpx did not allow me to analyze the sensor data. By pulling the .gpx directly off the device to my computer and looking at the text of the file, I was able to see that the sensor data is indeed in there, but the problem is that most fitness software wants .tcx rather than .gpx files.

The solution is simple. Download a .tcx converter. There are a couple free ones out there. (the one I got also allows for merging of multiple .gpx files -- very handy for creating large "tracks" of those hiking spots where there are miles and miles of intersecting trails that I do over the course of a season) The process takes only a few seconds and now my Oregon 450 does the bicycle analysis I need at this stage in my cycling habit. (newbie) Just convert the .gpx to a .tcx and the choose the new .tcx file to upload to your fitness software.
