Does the backup at "%appdata%\garmin\basecamp\Database\3.0\alldata.gdb.bak" have a size > 1 KB? If so we are working on a way to recover from the backup.
Please copy that file off to a secure location until we have the update ready.
Too late. I deleted all files/directories with BaseCamp in its name. Recycle Bin emptied (shredded).
I wouldn't care so much if downloads from Bird's eye were with a reasonable speed. To download 250 MB takes about a day....
If you are using Windows 7, you may be able to restore your data with its backup feature.
1. browse to C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Garmin 2. right-click on the "BaseCamp" folder, select "Properties" 3. you should see a "Previous Versions" tab which allows you to restore the whole folder.
It's really gone. (Tuneup shredder) And again: It wouldn't be a problem if downloading bird's eye imagery were faster. That's a REAL problem, that Garmin should address.
BTW: I appreciate it that the app developers themselves reply to my message!
I have over 12GB of BirdsEye data myself. After downloading each file, I send it to a memory card, then copy the file to a folder on my hard drive as an archive. My understanding is that these can be re-imported into Basecamp if needed later.
In the future, you might want to try a similar workflow to avoid problems like this.
That was exactly what I was planning to do.
BTW: How did you manage to download 12 GB since bird's eye was introduced? Your PC must have been downloading continuously.
I subscribed about 2 weeks after the introduction, and I let it run at night when I'm sleeping, in the day when I'm at work... pretty much all the time. :D
Ever since installing 3.0.3 however, I'm having problems with downloads stalling out and not properly resuming. In the past I would see stalled downloads frequently, but they always resumed if I clicked the pause button, waited a minute, then resumed by clicking the green triangle again.. Now they seem to stall more often and I can't always resume.
It might just be the heavy load on Garmin's servers instead of a 3.0.3 problem though, not sure. I just returned home now and found a 19,000 image download stalled at 4,500. I used the technique just described and was able to successfully resume. :)
