First of all, I think you are referring to City Nav 2010.4, not 2011.4 because 2011.4 isn't out yet. In 2010.4 you need a valid "gma" file to unlock the map. This file needs to be in the same folder as the maps on your hard drive. Ie: ~/Library/Application Support/Garmin/Maps. If you aren't sure what a gma file is it would help me answer your question if you gave me some info about where you got the maps and in what format. For instance, did you download them from my.garmin.com, did you buy a DVD, did you get them from a map update, etc?
Well I've pulled this worthless product - Locks my valid map (see prior posts), will not read a stored image file (unlocked) from the GPSr's SD card nor will it read it when the card is placed in a reader.
