Whats the current status of the BirdsEye servers? I am unable to download Anything.. says "Your Download Has Started" but there is nothing being downloaded. My internet connection is fully working..

Anyone else reporting a 'no go' on BE downloads?

Yes, they are working for me.

How many imagery files do you have downloaded? After I got to 7 or so, my machine started slowing down. I had to delete all my previously downloaded imagery though to keep basecamp from crashing.

After creating the .jnx files (RMC on file, save to Removeable Media) then I delete the birdseye files from basecamp. You can't look at the imagery on the computer, but at least it's on the GPSr.

    hi JR,

I have about 10 BE image maps on BaseCamp but this shouldn't affect download speed? I've just noticed there is now some activity on downloading 4900 images (not a very big map), but the download is so slow I've had to abandon it, at the rate it was downloading it literally would have taken days!

BaseCamp only starts on about 1 out 3 or 4 launch attempts now. I dont really want to delete the BE image files as then I will not know what areas Ive already downloaded clearly. Looking on the GPSr is not practical for this.

I have been steadily downloading BirdsEye imagery for the past week and now have a total of 15 files that are each typically 200MB. I haven't noticed any server problems, but I start a download and then go off to do other things (like work and sleep ;)).

Starting up BirdsEye doesn't seem to take particularly long compared to other big programs that I use, and I have really only seen one - maybe two - crashes since I've started using BirdsEye. Evidently the program is happier on 64 bit systems with lots of memory. Or maybe I'm just lucky? There are surely some rough edges, but I'm very impressed with the new BaseCamp features and performance.

Garmin UK have told me that the BE service is down for maintenance for now (in the UK at least!) and likely will be for the rest of the day. The maintenance started yesterday.
