BaseCamp copies files and crashes on bootup

Hi there I have been having a major problem with basecamp. Lately I can’t even get it to boot up without it crashing on me. Basecamp loads then it looks like it is copying files from my Garmin SD disk to the C drive then crashes. I have 2 questions I am wondering:

1) Where are all the Birds eye view data stored? I have moved the application data to my D drive and created a symbolic link because it is using up all my drive space. Is there another place where the files that are on the SD drive are stored because it is copying something back to my C drive and now I have 0 space left on it! Would you have any idea what files it is copying? It must be the BirdsEye files because there isn't anything else that large on my device. (over 3GB of files moved each time!)

2) Can you tell me where all the data for BaseCamp is stored? So I can move the appropriate ones to my D drive?

It would be alot easier if BaseCamp would just allow you to install it to another drive than the default but since this is not the case I will have to move them manually. Please help as my computer is now having difficulties running with such low memory on the C drive.

Thanks!

UPDATE:

OK so I figured out what it is doing. It is copying the files to C:\Documents and Settings\[user name]\Local Settings\Temp\BaseCamp and thy are in the same format as the birds eye files ex (folder name 928bef2a-32fa-4cef-837f-647adde1468c). Is there a reason for these files? Can they be deleted? Also it possible to tell which files are associated with which birds eye view?

Thanks again.

The location that we copy the device files back from is controlled by where you have your user profile (specifically the temp directory) setup. Steps to do so, if you're interested, should be easy enough to google up.

There isn't an easy way to expose which BirdsEye objects correspond to the images on disk. Our desire would be that the performance optimizations we're working on would prevent users from needing these kinds of workarounds.

I am also experiencing a lot of crashes recently. I have downloaded several Birdseye imageries (~15) and when I try to download another segment, I often experience crash right after selecting the area when Base Camp says "connecting to garmin servers..." (or something along those lines).

Also the startup time is now very noticeable (several minutes).

I have seen 5 crashes just today. Either when starting or during BirdsEye download.

Also the error reporting, if that's what I am seeing, looks broken. When BaseCamp goes down, main window disappears and tiny window shows up saying "contacting garmin servers..." but does not go away (5 minutes or longer, after that I close it myself).

I have noticed that there is version 3.0.2 and even though it does not mention any crashes in the change log. I'll install it and see if the stability improves.
