Basecamp shows hundreds of "unknown" waypoints

I just installed new Maps (2027.1) on my Smart 60 and everything went well but, when I opened Basecamp, I see hundreds of black dots that seriously clutter the screen on wide zoom levels.  The dots show up on any zoom level below 30 miles.  When I click on the dot, it just says "unknown".  I used to have a problem with airports showing up on wider zooms cluttering the screen, but discovered that I can disable that from the "Map Display Features" in the Options|Activity Profile.  I have unchecked all of the boxes in here to try to get rid of them, but they persist.

I thought that maybe it had something to do with the new maps having a lot of new types of points, but when I switched back to my 2026.3 maps, the dots were still displayed.

Anyone know what's going on?

Running Basecamp 4.7.5. on Windows 11.

    My map is on a zumo XT and on my computer.  Dots are not prevalent on the XT.  I have deleted the ProductDataCache a couple of times since I noticed the dots, which I have now noticed through several map versions.

    OK, I must be crazy.  I uninstalled the 2027.1 maps, uninstalled Base Camp, and rebooted the computer to make sure there were no remnants.  I then installed a previous level of Basecamp (4.7.4) with only the older 2026.3 version of maps.

    Dots still there.  A previous commenter must be right.  I just didn't notice the dots before because I was zoomed way out (they don't appear at zooms greater than 20 miles with "highest" detail level selected) or was zoomed into a local area where they are not as obtrusive.

    Where the dots are most obtrusive are at wider zoom levels (15-20 miles) and in heavily populated areas like a big ciy.

    I also tried plugging my device into the computer and selected the maps from the device itself rather than the installed maps.  Sure enough the dots show up there as well.

    Just took a look at my setup.  Those dots have always been present and some are identified as "unknown".  They can't be removed, but they can be made less obtrusive by changing the Symbol Size under Edit>Options>Display.  This also reduces the size of POI symbols, so keep that in mind.  The dots appear to be part of each map version as the number of dots can change with older maps.
