Feature request: routing & snapping

Hi!

I recently started using Basecamp for creating hiking tracks on my Oregon 450t using AdriaTOPO maps. Creating new tracks in Basecamp is very tedious. I have to make a point every 50m or so. There are a couple of features which would greatly simplify routing.

The best solution would be if Basecamp could automatically route over hiking trails drawn into the map. That way, I could choose several key points along the way, and Basecamp creates a track which follows trails between these points.

The second feature which would help is mouse snapping onto trails. When the mouse pointer gets close to a trail, it could automatically snap onto it so I don't have to hunt pixels when drawing a track. This option could be activated, perhaps, by holding down shift while drawing a track or something similar. This option is not as helpful as auto-routing, but is better than nothing.

Any chance of seeing these features in a future version?

Regards,
Ivan

Thanks for the feedback. I'll add these to our feature request database.

The best solution would be, if one could drag routes around just like in googlemaps. It's pretty tedious to change a route in Basecamp/Mapsource once it has been calculated (and then as previously said, the functionality to "fix routes" onto the calculated way, just as one can do with WinGDB).....

I don't think snap tracks to non routable roads / lines can work, as different maps use different 0x?? classifiers for the same thing. However for routable maps, one could directly use a route instead of a track....
