I was wondering it says that you can use basecamp and sd cards?

How is this done?I used mapsource and it trashed one of my sd cards i dont want to do this with my new city nav so how can i plan routes and such?

I do not want to lose my info on my card is there a FAQ on base camp?

I am using windows xp service pack 3.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

An SD card acts just like a GPS to the program.

I do not understand what you mean by Mapsource "trashing" an SD card. Are you talking about pre-programmed SD cards? If so, you cannot save information to those cards.

Thanks for the reply Red,

I was playing with my newly aquired used gpsmap60cx.I put a ky topo on the card because there was room and it wipped the city nav clean.That was an expensive lesson but one i have learned now.

Is there a way to save the maps in basecamp off the sd card to basecamp so i can use them to do routing and such or do i have to get a dvd?

The new basecamp version reads and uses the maps on the SD card directly.

So i would do my routs and whatever planing in basecamp save then transfer to a new unused sd card? or would i send it to the garmin sd card?I just dont want to lose my garmin copyrighted stuff again.

Are you still using a 60Csx? If so, it cannot use routes/track/waypoints on a card. They can only be saved to internal memory. The card can only be used for maps and custom POIs.

The newer style handhelds are much more flexible in what you can do.

You cannot send ANYTHING to a Garmin pre-programmed SD card.
