Basecamp: Where are imported files from GPS device saved?

Hello,

I imported a very long track from my device to Basecamp. Where are imported files stored on the C: drive and how are the imported files named when imported?

I would like to know how large my files are and how much disk space is consumed on my computer and my device's microSD.

Thank you,

    Dissonance,

We store the data for BaseCamp in "%appdata%\garmin\basecamp". The database files should be the only files in that folder. The additional folders are primarily used as caches to help speed the program up. I mention the latter just in case people want to back up their BaseCamp data via a method beyond the one built into the application. It wouldn't hurt to do so but really isn't necessary for the cache folders since they can be reconstructed the next time the app runs.

Another note is that once you've imported your data to the BaseCamp database it's stored with all of the other information you've created so it isn't really possible to see the size of individual items. Also, the format that BaseCamp uses isn't the same as the way the devices store data so it's not reflective of the amount of storage used on the device or sd card.

    Hope that helps

    Thanks, zhenkel.

Is it possible to find how much free space is on my microSD card?

    Only via Windows Explorer.

??? I Thought It Was Loaded

Loaded Base Camp on the computer, on the GPS -- Oregon 450, and PC Vista, Mozilla browser.

I have a Base Camp icon on the desktop. Every time I open the file it "updates, INSTALLS, asks me to agree to the terms, and then loads a map w/o any of my waypoints, tracks, data.

Yeah, the Garmin IS plugged in, USB port, and I can find the files for the data.

But why won't the data store on the application? And why is Base Camp re-installing every time I open the file?

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Later --

    OK, I think maybe I figured it out . . .

Gotta save that stuff into "My Collection" -- updates every time it's opened, so that it stays updated.

The icon your are clicking on is the installation file, not the program file icon. Look for the program icon with your other programs.

It should automatically read all of the data on the Oregon when plugged in as long as it is in mass storage mode.
