Basecamp: manually adding routes

Hello,

I have Basecamp 2.0.9 installed with Topo US 24k map. I created a route with 'new route' tool to a destination I have been to before. I know the route I want to take, but the route tool suggests different roads.

There are many different routes/roads to my destination, but the route I am familiar with does not show up when I use the route tool.

How can I edit the route with the roads that I know I want to take?

Thank you,

It's a common problem: you know more than the routing algorithm. The answer is to use the BaseCamp route tool to specify intermediate points along the way. There is a catch: your GPS using will do its own calculations for the route you give it, which may or may not be identical to that calculated by BaseCamp. But you'll get closer to your optimal route than if you only give the GPS a final destination.
  • I had the same discussion on this topic.

You can add waypoint to a route you already made (just learned that).

The option to edit a route by select it and replace it is not there.
With tracks it is possible in base camp but not in mapsource ??!

    Thing to change in basecamp:

    • route changing
    • use via instead of waypoints

    thanks in advange,

Route editing tools are a feature already on our list to include in a future version. The desire would be to have them as easy to use as the track editing tools as you showed in your screenshot.
  • Thanks for having it on your list.
I know you won't tell when there will be a next release. :)

It will be soon because of birdseye, with should be available in march.
(what is the data of today?)

We will see what is going to happen.
