Basecamp can't send routes to Fenix 8

Before the major update a couple of weeks ago, I was able to send my collections, routes etc from Basecamp to Fenix 8 without any issues. After the update, when the watch is plugged in, Basecamp is showing this error message.

"There was a problem communicating with the Garmin device fenix 8 - 51mm. Please update the software in this device. Communication with the device may continue with reduced functionality. Please contact Garmin customer support."

I can still click OK to pass the error box. It appears Basecamp connects. I can initial sending the routes to internal storage of the watch. It seems everything is working. However, when I disconnect the watch and go to Saved folder on the watch, there is nothing there even though Basecamp shows the routes within internal storage folder.

Did the last update messed something up? I have loads of routes on Basecamp which became totally unusable overnight. Please advise.

  • Yes.  The latest Fenix firmware messed everything up.  There are multiple posts in the Fenix Forum but because there is so much activity these posts keep moving way down the list so it's unlikely anyone from Garmin will see them.  The only option is to email support with a bug report. Rather than go through Chat or a Web form go directly to [email protected] that seems to get quicker results.

    Several of us have been reporting this same problem for some time, both here and in the Fenix ​​8 section, but we have no solution.

    This section only achieves closure of the post and little else.
