Hi,
I`ve set up BaseCamp 2.0.9 and found it out terrible slow with City Navigator maps. I can even see how menu drawing form transparent to opaq state , and maps aren't draw properly at all in reasonable time.

At the same time MapSource is working just fine with the same map set.

Does anybody have any clues/solutions for that?

I've found the drawing speed slow as well on Vista compared with Mapsource. This on 2D view, only. But there's a lot to like with BaseCamp--particularly how it handles tracks and waypoints as tagged data (the folders are subsets), and the ability to add and subtract directly from the GPS. So I'm persevering.

We are continuing to look for new ways to speed up the application, especially the speed of map drawing. I can't share any details at this time but please know that we are aware of the issues and working on them.

Unfortunately the only suggestion I can offer for the time being is to reduce the detail level on any affected map product.

From the View menu select Toolbars and choose Detail Level from the sub-menu. This will add a new toolbar that allows choices from Lowest-Highest. As you lower this setting less detail will be displayed while the map is zoomed out but will still be available as you zoom in.

    Thanks--I'll try that.

I appreciate Garmin's direct participation here. Vendors don't always show up on the forums they host.

I upgraded my Nvidia driver and that improved the render time, as my previous driver didn't even show map.

I know with previous version somewhere I had to change the OpenGL setting to get basecamp to work.

BTW I'm now using Nidia driver version 196.21 using a 8600 GT
