BaseCamp 2.0.9 ... Track Time & Speed?

Hi,
I am using an Etrex HCx.
If I look at the recorded tracks in BaseCamp, the properties of the route seem to have a few blank columns...Leg Time, Leg Speed, and Time.

For the life of me, I can't seem to get the information to show...what gives?

TIA

    Hello VEEMA01,

I'm guessing here because I do not have an Etrex HCx. I have a GPSMAP76S and if I save my tracks in the unit I lose those same properties. The unit gets rid of that stuff to make the saved file smaller. I do not do that anymore. I download every day that I use it and get all the data.

I also use MapSource. I did not like BaseCamp software.

    Same Difference!

    Thanks for your reply.

I get the same result with MapSource.
(Not sure which is better or why - yet :-)

But with a 2 GB memory card in my unit, it can't be trying to save space???

Again I'm guessing about your unit but I also have a 705 and I cannot save my rides to the microSD card. All I can do is store maps on the card from my computer or previous tracks that I want to follow again. So yours might have the same limitation and not be able to save currently recorded rides to the card.

Have you tried just shutting the unit off after a ride and then downloading it and see what happens?

If you SAVE a track, it strips the time information (on these old style units). You need to upload the active log or the ones that are automatically saved to the card.

Your unit uses the card for maps by default. You can have it write your tracks on the card as well by going into the Track setup. This has to be done prior to the track being recorded

To access the tracks you will need to go into mass storage
    (Menu->Setup->Interface->USB Mass Storage)

    Thanks all.
RED90, I think that you may have the answer...I have been saving my tracks to the memory card. I will try it differently & report back.

    Interesting ... But Why?

OK, here is what I have found.
The same is true for both MapSource & BaseCamp:

If you connect the Etrex, the Track Log of the "Active Log(s)" are imported just fine, with all of the speed and distance info (including elevation, which is utterly wonky).

If, on the device, you "save" the track, the additional info is lost. This is true even though I have the "Log Track To Data Card" option selected..."Active" logs are stored in RAM regardless.

Which begs the question of why the device strips the information out when saving to a 2GB memory card???
