Routing Anomalies in South Dakota

I'm preparing for a trip, and I've created a number of tracks for this.

What I'm experiencing is that this particular track generates a "direct" route, regardless of what profile or activity I select. I've tried them all, and they all use the default from
Basecamp.

The starting point is Keystone, South Dakota: N43.89362° W103.42531° The end point is junction of two highways, also in South Dakota: N43.77270° W103.33936°

I've created several shaping points along the way, even though the route is a single (albeit winding) road. I started with a start and end point, that didn't work. Then I added multiple
shaping points along the way. I started with a few, and then many (up to 16).

I still got a direct route, until I got up to about 12 shaping points, but even then the route did not follow the roads completely, only partially.

I have to think this part of South Dakota is routable. Why is it generating direct routes?

I've checked and double-checked my profile(s) and I am NOT using direct routing.

City Navigator North America NT 2026.2

I had to use REVER to generate the correct route between my points. I've been a BaseCamp user since day two, and it sucks to have to do that.

The route works fine with 2026.2/4.7.5 with both Driving and Motorcycle profiles on my computer. Try re-installing the map. Less likely is construction/road closure due to departure date. Right click start point in Route Properties window to change departure date.

I've reinstalled the map and used every profile that comes with BC. It still generates a direct route, and that even weirder switchback in the shown in the middle of my image.

Try uninstalling then reinstalling BaseCamp

This intrigues me because I don't understand the process of creating a track and then converting it to a route. For me, I create a route in Basecamp and then tell Basecamp to create a track from that route. FWIW, my map and Basecamp version are the same as yours and it routes as expected using the same start and end coordinates, and one shaping point on 16A at N43° 51.571' W103° 25.829'.

Edit: One other thought. Waypoints can be assigned a routing profile that is different from the overall route. Check your waypoint details for that.
