Custom Icons

I'm very sorry that your question slipped through the cracks over the holidays!

To add custom waypoint symbols save the graphics you would like to use to Documents\ My Garmin\Custom Waypoint Symbols. You can either replace the images that already exist or add new ones following the numbering scheme that already exists (008, 009, 010, etc).

The best results would be to have the images be 24x24. If not BaseCamp will automatically resize them.

Thanks much. I have been busy with the holidays and the beginning of the semester, myself. Is there a limit to the number of custom waypoint icons?

Again thanks. The custom waypoints appear in Basecamp now, but not on my Oregon 550. Do you happen to know if there is a way to get the custom symbols on the Oregon unit itself?

There is a limit of 64 custom icons, the valid filenames are 000 to 063.

Just saw your second question got posted while I was researching the first :).

No unfortunately the waypoint icons shown on the unit are limited to the images that are built in.

Update 3.71 Support for Custom Symbols

I understand Beta Version 3.71 now supports custom symbols. Could someone update us on its use.
